The Next Person You Meet In Heaven by Mitch Albom (2018)

"No story sits by itself. Our lives connect like threads on a loom, interwoven in ways we never realize...The tale of your life is written second by second, as shifting as flip of a pencil to an eraser."

The sequel to the much acclaimed and loved "The 5 People You will Meet in Heaven" delivers with a similar formula like its predecessor, with a little bit of a twist at the end, but still the soulful lesson intact.

We open up on the wedding day of a significant character from the previous book, Annie, and follow her heavenly journey and meet...some interesting characters of her Five people.

The 2nd soul Annie meets in heaven is by far, my favorite. Not the backstory, per say, (it gets a little rough) but Mitch included a unique character that will resonate with some on a very specific and deep level. (Sorry to be so vague, I just didn't want spoilers and encourage you to read the book to find it out.)

"Have you ever considered how many living things there are on earth? People. Animals. Birds. Fish. Trees. It makes you wonder how anyone could feel lonely. Yet humans do. Its a shame." - Cleo

Like Eddie in the first book, Annie learns lesson from each soul she meets, and gets answers to questions she had been carrying inside and reminded how our lives can touch others and is part of someone else's ongoing story. We matter and our choices DO make an impact, not only in our life -and death - but in others as well.

Books like these make such great gifts or a nice addition to a coffee table. Its a quick read that could be done in 2 to 3 days and would be wonderful book for your Book Club. It would open up discussions in spirituality or get people to talk about the 5 people THEY would want to meet or think they would meet in heaven.

Although it is natural to compare the two books, and most likely everyone will say they like the original better, it should still be respected as a stand alone book. I would be curious on the thoughts of someone who reads this book BEFORE the original and see if their perspective would be different.
In fact, if you are someone who has or is planning to read this one before the original, please comment here to OPEN that discussion or email us here at bookloversattic@gmail.com

"She would tell her that all endings are also beginnings, we just don't know it at the time."
