"Wife on the Edge", "Broad Assumptions", "Keep Your Skirt On" - Starshine Roshell (2010, 2013, 2019)

It's exactly 10 days until Christmas! Which means only about 8 or 9 days of shopping left! Still need some gift ideas for the funny lady in your life, that cool mom, a book loving friend? Well, look no further than this hilarious book bundle from local Santa Barbara writer, Starshine Roshell. 

I had the surprise pleasure of stumbling across these books (all signed by the author herself) in the gift shop of Pea Soup Andersen's at the end of September on a romantic wine getaway in Solvang, CA.

The cover and cheeky title(s) caught my attention and perusing the books' chapter names gave me a giggle. Not knowing which one to buy, I scooped up all three...and wasn't disappointed.

Strongly resembling a (real life) Carrie Bradshaw 'Sex and the City' vibe,  as if Carrie DID follow Mr. Big to Napa Valley and they settled down with kids in a scenic suburban, Miss Starshine ( and that is legit her birth name. She goes into that a few times in the books) takes you on a fun and frank adventure of womanhood, parenthood, and all things of pop culture that came and went.

She is our west coast homemaker  

Carrie Bradshaw indeed. 

No book really stands out, and can be read in any order. Most chapters are also based on some of her columns she writes for the local Santa Barbara. If you enjoy 'Sex and the City' (single girl life), read Jenny McCarthy's 'Belly Laughs' and 'Baby Laughs' (pregnancy and first year of motherhood) , then this is the next progression in reading of women writing about the humor they find in life, at all stages.

I promise you, these will be the gift that keeps giving the laughs well after Christmas!
