Throne of Glass Series- Sarah J. Maas - (2012-2018)

As we are all in a Global pandemic, and isolated to our homes...finding things to pass the time, can be daunting. Sure, maybe the first few days, its sleeping in, working what we can from home...but Netflix can only do so much. And for those of us that really enjoy reading, let me introduce you to your next series! Move over, Netflix!
Throne of Glass series is a epic Sci-Fi YA Fantasy, with lots of (sword) edge. Written by a female, (she started in High School) Sarah J. Maas managed to accomplish 8 amazing novels in six years. (AND, she has two other series out, too. Go, Girl!!)
I was introduced to this series from a friend I volunteer with. Being that she is 12 years younger than me, I was a little hesitant to jump into a YA novel. Last series for me was 'The Hunger Games" and "Twilight". However, half way through the first book, I was hooked and immediately went to my Amazon account and ordered the seven remaining.  Even though I am half way through the second to last book, I feel compelled to share this series. It is a page turner and will past the (endless) time we have at home.
Rumored to be compared to a "Hunger Games" meets "Game of Thrones", I believe this series is unique to stand on its own and is not like those, just in the same genre.
You have an amazing female character leading this adventure with some very in depth characters. Each person stands alone and helps the story move along. There is magic, violence, heroism, humor, and sexual situations. Sarah J. Maas's talent and vision blows me away with this world she created, and kept her writing fresh and consistent.  And, wanting to come back for more. I never finished the "Harry Potter" series after book four. I just got....bored, and honestly, it just felt limited. However, with the 'Throne of Glass' series, she takes you all over, always refreshing the locations. Two of the books are a sort of stand alone's, but still important to the series. One being a prequel to the Female Leads life, and another following two of the other characters on a journey that is important to the major plot lines.
I strongly suggest, put down the Netflix remote, and take a risk jumping into this fantastic world.
